    1944 Duke team

If you see George Clark or Bear Knotts today, say a hearty hello. They've earned it.

That's a fun article, thanks for sharing some Duke history Jim. I met Mr. Clark a few years ago at one of the Carolina games while Roof was coaching. His son introduced me. He told me a few stories about his dad, including his coaching preference. He played under Wallace Wade, obviously, as he was introduced to the crowd on Saturday, but he preferred playing for Eddie Cameron. You can tell his admiration in this quote.
Clark sums up Duke’s success. “We had some good athletes. We could block and tackle. Eddie Cameron had a lot of charisma. He inspired the fellas to play. We wanted to win for him. We had desire.”
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."
