    Reggie White article

Interesting article on Reggie White that was linked on DBR frontpage.

Just an FYI for those of you who have read the article but are not terribly familiar with the topic of Bible translation, most biblical scholars today eschew the King James translation because of the mentioned inaccuracies in translation, as well as the source(s) for the original language (Hebrew and Greek) from which it was translated. The article makes the impression that there is (or at least Reggie White believed there was) a larger conspiracy out there among some churches to suppress such information, but honestly if such a movement actually exists (which I highly doubt), it's gotta be pretty fringe.

There are some churches in the US which stand by the King James Bible as the "only inspired translation" of the original text, but in my opinion that's a rather foolish stance. These days there are plenty of translations which are far better and more accurate than the KJV and take into account historical idioms and such. Granted, the limitations of languages themselves will inevitably lead to things that are simply lost in translation, which is why Reggie White was motivated to learn Hebrew on his own it seems. Anyways, the personal search for truth is always admirable.
