Some stats before the big game

Wasn't sure if I should just throw this into the pre-game thread, or if people would appreciate it more as its own post. Happy to move it if needed. But, anyway, I decided to look up some of the veterans' numbers from both sides in the Duke-UNC series. Granted, this is a particularly different UNC team this year, but it's still interesting to see how guys have performed.

Start with Jon Scheyer, who seems to save some of the best games of his career for UNC. In fact, his career stats agaisnt UNC are better than basically anyone else Duke plays on a regular basis. In six games, he has averaged 18.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 2.2 spg, 0.3 bpg and 1.3 tpg in 35 mpg. He has shot .465 from the field, .469 from 3-point range and .833 from the FT line. Wow! And it's pretty hard to find a better performance than what he did at Carolina last year: 39 minutes, 24 points (7-of-7 FG, 3-of-3 3FG, 7-of-8 FT), 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, 0 turnovers.

    Here's Lance Thomas: 6 games, 17.5 mpg, 4.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, .500 FG%, .286 FT%, 1 total assist, 1 total steal, 2 total blocks, 5 total turnovers.

Brian Zoubek: 5 games (hurt for Duke's lone win in the past 3 years), 7 mpg, 1.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.0 bpg, 1 total assist, 1 total steal, 4 total turnovers, 10 total fouls, .571 FG%.

    Kyle Singler: 4 games, 36.3 mpg, 17.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.0 bpg, 2.3 tpg, .444 FG%, .444 3PT%, .692 FT%.

    Nolan Smith: 3 games (out with concussion at UNC last year): 14.3 mpg, 6.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.7 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.7 tpg, .444 FG%, .143 3PT%, 1.000 FT%.

    And UNC's vets:

    Marcus Ginyard: 6 games, 22.5 mpg, 9.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.3 apg, 0.7 spg, 0.2 bpg, 1.8 tpg, .432 FG%, .375 3PT%, .864 FT%.

    Deon Thompson: 6 games, 19 mpg, 8.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 0 apg, .5 spg, 1.5 bpg, 0.7 tpg, .513 FG%, .643 FT%.

No one else has played more than 2 games with significant minutes.

    Random perusal and whatnot

Front Court- Davis and Thompson are averaging about 14 ppg each this year, but they both fall off considerably during ACC play. Graves average increases for ACC games.

Backcourt- Drew is shooting almost 44% from 3, and has 137 assists to 70 to's (almost 2:1). Strickland is shooting 6-22 from 3, but over 50% on 2's.

Team- UNC is out-rebounding teams 42-35 on average and outscoring opponents 80-73 on average. They have had 11 different players score in double figures at least once this year. 5 of 10 losses have been by double digits. They are 1-3 at home in conference, I believe we are 2-2 on the road in the ACC.
