Does this whole issue remind anybody else of most sports labor negotiations?
My point is that both sides flirt with disaster, taking the issue to the final hour ... then settle on terms they could have gotten without all the histrionics.
I've seen it play out dozens of times in the cable TV industry and quite frequently in labor negotiations. Every once in a while, we'll actually have a strike (or lose a channel or two), but 99 percent of the time it works out -- at the last minute.
