    Ziegler to Pitt

Per Jeff Goodman's twitter (@goodmancbs), Trey Ziegler decided to transfer to Pitt according to his father.

Surprising, that he committed before Duke's roster situation shook out. Could be a hint of good things to come b/c he heard the Duke roster was going to be crowded. Or else he just really liked Pitt
Coach K on Kyle Singler - "What position does he play? ... He plays winner."

Well, it was going to be a crowded roster situation regardless of whether or not we add anyone else. If Murphy and Gbinije are ready to play next year, that's 7 players for 3 (maybe 3.5) positions. SG and SF are our deepest positions - it's just a matter of guys stepping up and making an impact in those spots.

Yes this is because he doesn't want to be Shabazz's backup .

Sorry to see that, as I thought he'd bring (back) a needed element to this team. I hope that you're right about possible causality... At least he's staying "in the ACC..."

    Josh Goodson‏ @joshwgoodson

Ziegler didn't want to commit to Pitt, but #Duke moved in a different direction and stopped recruiting him.

Zeigler will not be eligible next season (per his father, just now), so this makes even more sense. We'll have Gbinije and Murphy in their 3rd years in the program, along with SO Sulaimon, FR Jones and probably SR Thornton competing for time on the wing by the time he's eligible, and that's not even considering the possibility of Jabari Parker.

If the guys we already have to play to their potential, this shouldn't really hurt us at all.

Yup. It was debatable whether he was necessary in the first place. We have 4 guys that play his positions. The only question was whether those guys will be ready to play it as well as he can play it. With another year, it's very reasonable to expect Murphy and Gbinije to be ready to handle the SF position and Sullaimon and Jones to be able to handle the SG spot.

    Ziegler to Leave Pitt

Not sure if this was already mentioned somewhere else, but...

I was sort of disappointed when we stopped recruiting him last year, but then we got Rodney sooooo ... see-ya!

Maybe he figured out that if you're not in Coach K's top 7 then you're on another planet?
