I hope sometime in the future Neil Patrick Harris hosts the oscars. I hope Baldwin and Martin do a good job but it seems like an odd pairing.
Awards season is underway, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling on a master thread. Talk Oscars, 10 Best Picture nominees, Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais, best of the year, complaints, etc.
It was announced yesterday that Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will co-host the Academy Awards next March.
I find the choice(s) zany and inspired, but not completely ridiculous, and look forward to it. The two actors have crossed paths a few times -- 30 Rock, It's Complicated -- and they volley the title of SNL's most frequent host. They've even done similar sketches:"I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin," Martin said in a statement.
"I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars -- it's the opportunity of a lifetime," said Baldwin.
Get to Know Me! (Steve Martin, Jon Lovitz, Paulina Porizkova, Don Pardo, Phil Hartman)
Lank Thompson's I'm a Handsome Actor (Alec Baldwin, Mike Myers, Conan O'Brien)
I wish video were available.

i prefer the unsafe haven of Chris Rock.
