How can there be nearly 50 possible recipients of a player of the year award? You could easily go through the list and pare 25-30 as having no chance. Putting them on a POTY list seems almost patronizing.

looks like he's headed to Butler.
I'm not a betting man but if I were, here's some entertainment:
What are the odds that Luke Harangody scores two points per game for every Notre Dame victory this year? I could see him averaging 30 and the team only winning 15. Besides that, I think his actual age may be 30.
What date is the over-under for John Wall to leak his intentions to enter the Draft? February 20th?
What are the odds that Paul Hewitt goes completely gray this year after GT starts out 0-3 in conference?
Which player on this list will be the subject of the most fawning articles from the press? Singler might be a good candidate.
He had a very good freshman year for a Butler team that was supposed to be rebuilding but was in the top 20 most of the year, was freshman of the year in his conference and had a great summer on the US Under 19 team (with Seth Curry). He won't win the award and probably shouldn't be on the list ahead of Scheyer, but is expected to have a big year.
The best part is that the Preseason list really is meaningless. I am fairly sure there have been years where the post-season Naismith winner is someone who was not on the preseason list.
Forecasting the freshmen is really absurd. And it shows how much research they put into this list that Gordon Hayward, who is now a soph (and an excellent one) is listed as a freshman.
--Jason "Tyshawn Taylor had just as good a summer as Hayward and had a big freshman year for Kansas... why isn't he on this list?" Evans
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?
Taylor is on the preseason MMA'er of the year watchlist.
