"Duke-Army
September 12
RB Kyle Griswould (leg) -- OUT
CB Randez James (hand) -- OUT
S Anthony Young-Wiseman (knee) -- OUT FOR SEASON"
In other words, Duke sustained no lingering injuries v. Richmond. This is about as healthy as a football team can be.
Bruised pride doesn't show up on these reports, I'm afraid.
Let's hope the sting of an opening loss is taken out Saturday on the Cadets. I think it will be.
The weather report is for rain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning becoming intermittent in the afternoon. The winds are predicted to be 5 - 10 mph so our passing attack should be okay and a wet field could slow down the Black Knight's running attack.

I agree Bob in that the rain could make the ball somewhat slick in the Army option offense. And the receivers have the advantage on a wet field in that they know where they are going. The DB's don't have that luxury. Now if the OL can give Thad some protection. Go Duke!
I don't see rain in the forecast. Where do you see that?

Looks like tonight's Yankees-Orioles game may be in jeopardy too.
Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

The ESPN crawl says that two UNC players are affected and won't play against UConn tomorrow.
You know, one could imagine a really awful scenario for the college football season. Hope it doesn't turn into reality.

Freshman receiver Conner Vernon limped off the field in today's game against Army and I'm concerned about his status. It appeared rolled his ankle. If anyone hears a report on the seriousness of his injury, I would appreciate an update.

I saw the replay. He stepped on the defender's foot and rolled his ankle pretty badly. Being able to limp off on his own was a good sign I thought. I would expect he hits the old ice water bucket today and tomorrow and is running again by Thursday or so based on past experiences of my own.
That of course assumes there is no fracture or ligament damage. Since his name is not Ty Lawson, I expect it is something he gets over soon and he is ready for the Kansas game. I sure hope so, he is becoming a really good receiver!
