Tower defense games

Hey all!

Just working on my first tower defense game... those folks who play, can I ask... what are the essential elements, to you, of a good tower defense game? What makes you want to stick with it till the very end? What are the things you dislike about tower defense games, or would like to see?

Advice welcome please!

• being able to fast-forward.
• not too many types of weapons to choose from, definitely under 10, probably around 5. you should allow powering up the weapons though
• be kind to my cpu - i play games on my laptop, and when i have a bunch of things going on, it gets HOT
