I don't think @mrhenderson15 is real. If it were, I'm sure Jon Scheyer would be following him. Also, Duke Blue Planet would have included him on this list:

I also don't think JJ's is real. I agree with some of the previous posters -- most likely, the real JJ wouldn't have posted some of the tweets on that account.

Very good point. I didn't notice that. Someone will have to investigate...

Someone with connections should encourage the Sports Information staff to publicize the legit Dukies who are twittering.

Maybe JJ's profile is real.. ON the article on the front page about him, it mentions about him saying he has been "Reduced To Cheerleading".

Nope, it's been confirmed as fake.

I had suspected that was a fake because of some of the posts about PT.

Call me a crotchety old curmudgeon but this seems like the solution to a non-existent problem. Or perhaps I underrate our need for celebrity-related minutia.

it was a little bit obvious...it just didn't seem like jj's style..

i mean, he DOES have a degree from Duke....you'd think he would know the diff between "apart" and " a part of"

I think Bill Simmons does a pretty good job of articulating what it might mean as far as news coverage of celebrities...by giving us more, they are actually giving us less:

Now that jocks can talk to us directly, the press is boxed out

Nope. CNN was #1 for a while. I actually have been tracking it as part of my job (unfortunately). You can go to http://twitterholic.com/

and then click on any person and it gives you their stats, i.e. # of followers they have over a historical period. You can see that 6 weeks ago CNN had 600k and shaq roughly 300k. FML

Jim, you are not a crotchety old curmudgeon. I am in my 20s and cover digital media in the research group at an investment bank and social networks like facebook, myspace, and now twitter are part of my coverage universe. I think twitter is incredibly silly and I basically see it in the same way as you: a new way to follow the celebrities that Americans have become so enamored with. As I tell my girlfriend when she buys those gossip mags: "You killed Princess Diana"

And for the other people who use it...well I guess they just like to think people give a crap about what they do on an hourly basis.

But, but, tarasoccer04 said it was real!

Why did you speak with him? Can you introduce me?

I don't buy into Twitter at all... especially for "average" or "normal" people.

Except that his Bio says "28 years old. Happily married. Duke Blue Devil fanatic. Has the best family in the world" and all of his posts are about JJ Redick, haha. Maybe just a coincidental same-name situation, because he doesn't appear to be pretending to be Dave.
