At the midpoint of ACC play, Duke is smack on the bubble for the ACC Tournament (in which only the top eight schools participate). Duke is in eighth place, a half game in front of State and a game behind BC.

The next three weekends are critical: home vs. State, at bottom-dwelling Maryland, and home vs. BC. Duke needs to go at least 7-2 over that stretch to get some separation from State and tenth-place Wake, or the last two weekends against UVa and GaTech are going to be very hairy.

Given the strength of the ACC, if Duke can get into the ACC Tournament and win one game, it is almost inconceivable that they would not get into the NCAA. And at that point, who the heck knows - Fresno State was a four seed in a loaded regional last year and went all the way.

Actually the fourth time, as they beat UNC twice.

We unfortunately lost the rubber match 1-10. However, 7 of our next 8 games are home. IIRC, we were in roughly the same situation last year (borderline making the ACC Tourney) and faltered down the home stretch. I agree the State and BC games are critical.
