Duke vs MD - My trip to Cameron with pics!

Morning everyone! I had a GREAT weekend at the MD game. First off, big thanks to Joel for meeting up with me and giving me the rundown of K-Ville. I really appreciated it!

We left Jacksonville, FL at 3pm Friday and were at my aunt’s house in Durham by around 10pm. We got a good nights sleep and I got up early to head to Duke. I had planned to stop by Dunkin Donuts and get some coffee and donuts for the Crazies. I knew it was located right on Erwin. I was coming from the opposite side I normally do and under-estimated the size of Duke’s campus. I drove around in circles with no sign of anything I recognized. I decided I’d try to find a grocery store or Wal-Mart or something instead and get donuts there. No luck. Finally I see a Biscuitville and stop in and order 20 sausage biscuits. I have to wait about 15 minutes and am now running late to meet Joel.

I finally get out of there and call Joel to find out I am in the East Campus and need to head to the West Campus. He gives me directions and I am there in no time. I park off of Towerview on Circuit Drive and now have a long walk in the brisk cold carrying a 10 pound box of biscuits!!!

My parents drove up for the day to be with family as well and my dad decided to try and buy a ticket outside so I met with him.

I found Joel and he told me where to head to hand out the biscuits. I made my way to the front of the Crazie’s line and handed them out to whoever wanted them. I hope it helped!!!

I walked around in the mud in K-Ville and took pics. I finally met up with my brother and then Joel came over again and gave me the rundown of how K-Vill worked. K-Ville was like nothing I had ever seen. It looked like Katrina had just blew through. It was dirty, muddy, smelled strange and looked like something from a third world country. I loved it. I can only imagine what kind of experience that is. Definitely something that would last in your memory forever. I would love to be able to spend a day in the life of a K-Ville resident! Here are a few pics.

We got our tickets and headed inside. We sat in 19D, Row H, about 5 rows behind Duke’s bench. My brother had Wojo leave us the tickets. My brother made the rounds and spoke with the MD coaches and some players.

From the moment MD stepped on the court for warm-ups the Crazies laid into them. Vasquez had a smirk on his face the whole time. “Fear the classroom” was classic and so was “Hooked on phonics”. Bowie had to explain it to Vasquez and he laughed. He then explained what it meant to Kim.

    GAME TIME!

What a game. Duke played like the #1 team in the country. Zoubek was by far player of the game with everything he provided. I had been to some previous Duke games at Cameron but this was my first ACC match up in 17 years. There is nothing like it. You all know the details of the game so here are some more pictures.

My favorite picture. This was at the start of the second half. As they wanted to get ready to inbound the Crazie’s never let up. Lasted a few minutes.

    MD’s worst loss since 1944!

My brother introduced me to Nolan after the game. No tour this time but maybe in the off-season.

I ran in to Miles on the way to my car. I also saw Elliot but decided not to bother him because he was with friends.

Wow! What a game to see. The pic of the Crazies with Vasquez is one of the best Crazies shots I have seen.

    Great Pics

Nice pics!! I hope you don't mind if I "borrow" the one with Vasquez and Crazies for my comp background lol

They're a lot better than the ones I got from the Crazie section at VA Union game (all I got was a picture of me and the Blue Devil on my phone. Still cool though)

Could someone save the Vasquez one and email it to me? PM me if you wouldn't mind doing so and I'll give you my email address. For some reason I cannot view the pics from here at work, and would love to add that as my new background. Many thanks to anyone willing to repsond and do this for a fellow Dukie

Thanks Indoor66 for emailing the photo to me. Haven't said A WORD to my Terp coworker here, haven't had to, he just had that look on his face today, and it's been a good one here
