Kanye West calls himself Jordan of his (musical) generation

Is it me, or is this guy just full of himself. First there were the comparison's to himself as Jesus in that he is a storyteller and was on Rolling Stone posing in a Crown of Thorns, then there was the whole 'Bush hates black people' deal. I think his music is decent, but to be the 'Michael Jordan' of music is saying a bit much. I would say Tiger Woods is the 'Jordan' of golf, Federer is(was) the 'Jordan' of tennis, etc...but don't see anyone in music that compares. Thoughts?

Does Nike own him? If not than he's not the Michael Jordan of anything.

I suppose if the Grammy's are the NBA Finals of the Music Industry then he might have a point. Doesn't matter though, he's still a tool.

I'm not sure whether it makes any sense to take him seriously. I think he's a great performer, and this type of stuff is his performance. He keeps himself in the news by saying silly things, and that helps sales.

I'm calling BS on Kanye's pronunciation. You could play an entire album of his right now, and if you didn't tell me he did it, I wouldn't be able to identify the artist.

I love T.I., but as for saying Kanye isn't that good, I say that statement's false.

Kanye is the grapes in the "Fruit of the Looms" Hall of Fame, kind of a Kevin Bacon closeness to Mike Jordan.

If you call yourself anything, then it is false. If others say this about you, I can buy it.

See Dallas Cowboys & America's Team. They mentioned it first in their promotional materials. Unfortunately, lots of people bought into it. It isn't true - the Cowboys stink!

    Aw shucks!

And I'm not even an Eagles, Giants, or Redskins fan.

I know! That's way you get the special place. Redskins fans are bred to loathe to Dallas, so they get a place in my heart for just being a 'Skins fans. Eagles fans and Giants fans do not earn places in my heart for hating Dallas.

Sue, before you respond, you do have a place in my heart. It's just not as a Giants Fan.

That's great about the Kevin Bacon comment!

Saw he just got arrested again...I think whoever said he does these things to stay in the news is correct. Thing is I never really listen to him so I don't know if he is that good or not...but when you proclaim yourself to be something like that then I think you have an ego problem. I say he insecure...

I will admit my dislike goes back to the 70's and being a Steelers fan. Which also is the reason for my initial dislike of Oakland. Being in KC now, the dislike of Oakland has increased.
