Former Duke Runner Wins Duke City Marathon...Barefoot

Former Duke distance runner Alex Romero (Class of 2007) won the Duke City Marathon in Albuquerque, NM this weekend. While his winning time of 2:40 is not that remarkable, the feat is slightly more impressive given that he ran the race barefoot. His brother, Julian, also allegedly ran barefoot and finished second.

Ummm...WOW! Just out of curiousity did they run barefoot in college as well?

he ran barefoot from time to time at school, but not all the time. I know he ran the Duke Invite his senior year barefoot. I can't remember his time.

Great kudos to the Romero brothers!!! I'll be running my first marathon ever in March (L.A. Marathon)... well, actually probably walking...hoping to finish in 4-5 hrs.

Can't imagine doing a marathon barefoot. (Hello Kenya). Hope there is an article in a local newspaper -- with a DBR link about their experience. GOOD JOB!!
