Foul, foul, foul. You can have mine anytime.
Yes! I'm the one everyone always gives the leftover black ones to.
Eeeeeeeew!
Eh.
Black licorice fans of the world unite!
Foul, foul, foul. You can have mine anytime.
Black licorice from Trader Joe's. Yummm.
The smell of black licorice makes me very sick. No joking.
Mmmmmm, good and plenty!
Seriously, though, I used to LOVE black licorice. I could eat it all day. Now I like it, but if I eat more than one or two pieces at a time (or about fifteen good and plenty), the flavor gets too strong for me. So, I guess I'm a moderate user now. Before, I was a TOTAL addict. Definitely still like it, though.
Yeahhhhhhh, NO! Not only does it taste horrible, it's also bad for you. Folks, when something tastes like that, it's usually an indication that something foul is a front.
I'm also not a fan of heavily liqourice-esque foods made with anise. I like subtle hints, especially in tea but when it dominates the flavor... I'm out like shout.
Of course, black licorice has been considered an aphrodisiac forever. The ancient Romans and Greeks used it as such, as did the Chinese. It's even mentioned in the Kama Sutra.
They recently did a study where they measured the biological responses of men and women to certain smells. They found that blended smells worked best. The combination of licorice and doughnuts was #2 among men, and the combination of cucumber and licorice was #1 among women. http://www.tangomag.com/2007216/eat-...n-woman.html/2
I can't stand it. I have a brother-in-law who loves it so we are always looking for new brands for him. I found one from Australia that he liked.
I thought that this was about the song. I love Grand Funk.
And talk about nasty... Jaeger, Sambuca, Ouzo...
Triple nasty. blech. Jaeger is quite possibly the foulest liquor I have ever tasted.
I am, however, a big coconut fan. A couple years ago I bought my first bottle of coconut-flavored rum and ooooh baby it was being at the beach in the middle of winter.
So I wonder what the coconut / licorice Venn diagram looks like? What other genetic inferences can we draw?
Aw come on! I LOVE Jäger!!! And nothing beats black coffee with a splash of Sambuca.
ETA: Well, Sambuca with a splash of black coffee might be better.
Red's the stuff.
Black Liquorice Altoids (the way it's spelled on the tin, I believe) are pretty good, too.
Does anyone else remember the wonderful Sen-Sen's?? Black licorice in a little square. Yum and yum again.
Vile. Terrible. It should be called by it's original name, which was YUCCHH!, but that was too hard to pronounce.
Foul, foul, double-foul! You can have mine any time!

Black licorice jelly beans are yummy. So are Good N' Plentys.
