Boo BluRay...no offense intended but I'm still mad about losing the format war.
So now that we have a BluRay player, what movies should we get that really take advantage of this format?
I tried an older movie redone onto BluRay, Rocky. FANTASTIC, but it seemed as though some parts didn't handle well the conversion process.
My guess is that Casino Royale would be ideal on BluRay. Anything else I should consider?
Thanks,
Lavabe

Planet Earth is at the top of my list of dvd's to buy when I finally get a bluray player.
definitely TRANSFORMERS
Well, Gizmodo seems to have a lot to say about this one:

Try this site http://www.blu-ray.com/. The Searchers was great. The action detail on Transformers (no blurring in robot battles) is awesome. We just got Sleeping Beauty to watch with our grandchild. This is a good place for deals http://blu-rayboxsets.com/?gclid=CJS...FRcdsgodgkq9_Q
Much of the newer action stuff comes across well on Blu-ray. The easiest way I found to see what works well in HD(HD DVD) was to join Netflix and get a couple fo movies a week. Hopefully, you've done that already.
Even worse, I've been buying every reasonably priced HD DVD I can get my hands on in a vain attempt to extend its usefulness.
I think 300 would be an excellent choice in Blu-ray.
I heard that Jumpers has been the most popular blu-ray feature film so far. I saw Ironman on blu-ray last night on a 120" projection screen in my friend's basement. It...was...awesome. I'm definitely getting Indiana Jones on blu-ray. The Fifth Element was pretty impressive on it. Any of the big ones from this summer will probably be good, like Dark Knight or Hancock or even Wall-E. The Harry Potter movies will probably rule on blu-ray.
I prefer the lower cost technology* to win. Sony should never win a format war because they aren't about adoption of the technology, merely how they can make more money. Okay, okay, I know that comment is against some of my principles. Which means I must be part of the HD union...
This was noted by Steve Jobs yesterday at the unveiling of updated MacBook and MacBook Pros:
Another surprise, however, was that Apple's new machines don't incorporate support for Blu-ray. When asked about the move, Jobs simply called the optical disc technology a "bag of hurt." - from Forbes.com

*That meets the necessary technical requirements.
I'm a big fan of concert discs.
The latest John Mayer on Blu-Ray is REALLY good.
Three sets: Acoustic, Trio, and the Pop Band.
Picture is great; audio is better. (One of the best features of Blu-Ray IMO is the uncompressed surround sound audio - I think they call it TrueHD.)
The man can *play* a guitar...
