Thumbs up To Me, this is a WOW

Most of us have spent way-to-much to buy a Honey-Baked Ham, so I offer a scrumptious solution.

Buy a cheap spiral Ham from your grocery store.

    Preheat oven to 300-325 degrees

    Prepare a glaze of
    1 cup of honey
1/3 (or a little more) of butter
    a tsp of ground cloves

Score the ham and stud with whole cloves. Place ham in a foil lined pan -- or better yet, a throw-away. (It's kind of a bear to clean up)

In the top half of a double boiler, heat the glaze (or on a low heat in a regular saucepan) -- and keep warm.

Brush glaze over ham, and baste every 15-20 minutes, as you bake for an hour or so -- depending on the size of your ham (probably 6-10 lbs)

During the last 4-5 minutes of baking, turn on broiler to caramelize the glaze.

Remove from oven and let sit for a few minutes before serving. You will never spend the $$ to buy a pre-glazed ham again.

I'd love to hear some feedback. Either on this thread, or to dukemom@hotmail.com.

Enjoy. Personally I LOVE this ham.
Place ham face-down (or not, but I've found that face-down works best since it won't cause the first two slices of ham to be dry and over-cooked.

    Pear Galette

As promised on the "Best Gift" thread, I'm posting the link to the Pear Galette recipe here.

It's too easy to link, and I'd rather give credit where credit is due, since it's not a family recipe (though we'll probably make it with apples, and then it will be!)

    http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/food/r.../pear-galette/

The chocolate mint ice cream pie that's referenced is in the current Taste of Home magazine (which also wouldn't be right to republish here). It's not on their site, so i can't link.

    World's Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake

I just made this because I was in desperate need of chocolate. It's not bad!

    5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
    4 tablespoons flour
    4 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons milk
    3 tablespoons oil
    3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
    1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night.

This is a frightening recipe because to the last sentence in your post.

This would also be good with a mug (pint) of Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout!

...or in the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout and have a beer float with your mug cake.

I would NOT suggest dropping the cake into the BBCS, however.

You know I can't comment on anything in the beer, other than the idea of cake in beer being gross. Beer float? Only if it's root beer.

Try a really dark beer like a porter or stout with a scoop or two of good vanilla ice cream (Breyer's, Edy's or Dryer's will do). One time. I won't guarantee you'll be hooked but you might be surprised...

Hadn't thought about it that way...

I was suggesting a beer float instead of a root beer float.
