    Entourage: Is the End Near?

I don't know if "jumped the shark" is the right terminology to use here, but after seeing the first two weeks of Entourage, I see clear signs of decline. The worst was the use of Tony Bennett for God's sake in Sunday's episode. Retro-cool? More like a worn-out cliche of same. The characters have become caricatures even of themselves. I'm bored. Anyone else?

    I was maybe minimally disappointed.

The fact Arrie thinks that Vince might not actually make it adds a new twist and a serious bit of suspense. Vince said he's going to start playing the game? I'de like to see how this goes.

Also it seems like E is getting crap from everyone about making bad decisions in Vince's career - which if you look back now - it seems pretty true.

The best so far was drama getting in the back of the car at the end of the last episode.

Give it a few more episodes... I am guessing we are just being taken up the first lift on the coaster.

these episodes are way lame compared to episodes past such as the Playboy party. I mean, I understand that most of the "fun" episodes don't advance the plot at all, but come on -- this show is not serious, it is meant to be fun. Screw plot, the episodes are much more worth my time when they are outrageous and funny.

Different people watch for different reasons D... They can't appease everyone.

Vince hanging out in Mexico seemed like a much better gig then the playboy mansion too. The show is meant to be somewhat serious in a bent up behind the scenes look as well.

Yes. The show jumped the shark with the Vince's Party Sponsored by Victorias Secret episode. Definately on the decline... when characters, even secondary ones, because just stupid caracitures of themselves, a show is on its way to the bottom.

Funny that I saw this thread - we DVR Entourage, and last night when I asked my wife if she wanted to watch Sunday night's episode, she reminded me that we had watched it the night before. I completely forgot the episode - which was quite disappointing - who doesn't live vicariously through these guys?

Ugh, it was painful watching TB say he admired "Aquaman"
I agree w/you, jumped the shark may be a bit premature, especially with Marky Mark having made a nice appearance but if they don't stop highlighting Johnny Drama there will be trouble.

    More Ari, less porno.

Less entertaining, perhaps more interesting. Whether interesting can pull the followers, me included, remains to be seen (I had real difficulty DVRing Weeds this week rather than the other way around).

V's boyz seem to be maturing, coming into their own.

Drama has had some success, found a main squeeze, but shows the vulnerability of a teenager in LUV, both with respect to his career and his true love. A caricature to be sure, but depicts the qualities one might expect to find in a marginal Hollywood type.

Turtle, rather than being the impish little goofer, is now the goofer who gets some, women that is, although he reveals more and more how tired the life of a hanger-on with a quick wit and ability to entertain can get.

E will emerge as a player, or at least is making a serious try. The script will sell and will be big. Where that leaves Arri with respect to E will be interesting.

Vinnie being juxtaposed against Tony was, in my mind, perfect. Tony has, in fact, hung on in the "biz", to the extent he has hung on--he has many other interests--doing bit parts (Analyze This) and commercials, and perhaps some Vegas gigs. Will Vinnie be relegated to that type of career at a much, much earlier age seems to be a central theme. Will it be good television? I'm reserving juidgment but I doubt in the future that straight up against Weeds the next time, I make the same DVR choice.

The Only reason I have time warner cable still is for HBO on demand... no worries about DVRing.

You can probably give them a call if you have them and try to see if they will let you "try HBO on demand for a month" before you purchase it.

Got DVR for old reruns. I was/am in the bag for Homicide Life In the Street, on in DC in the early afternoons. Was/am also in the bag for DaVinci's Inquest, which likewise used to be on in the afternoons but sad to say disappeared when I got the DVR feature. I had been a fan of Homicide when it originally showed. Always thought DaVinci's Inquest had something to do with the Code and never watched. Man, once I discovered it on reruns, was completely taken with it. That was some terrific, terrific programing. I mean it was great!

Weeds does not rerun until several days after the initial run--I guess Showtime is slower about those things than HBO, which I think is next day. I do em back to back.
