    Beasley and Team USA

This reminds me of something...why the heck wasn't Beasley asked to participate on the Select Team that scrimmaged Team USA, and I never see him mentioned as a possible 2012 Olympic player. What a joke. All of these "character" issues are so overblown. The kid is a MONSTER on the court, he is going to be a great NBA player. And, I've said it before, everyone lauds J. Kidd as the elder statesman leader of the team, a great character guy, yet he got arrested for smacking his crazy wife across the face, Kobe did what he did in Colorado, etc. I don't know what happened in the Kidd house or in that hotel room, but can we cut Beasley some slack for writing on his school walls with a Sharpie?

Well I don't think you've really been paying attention. Team USA IS young and already has a developed core of like 32 players. Beasley's position is STOCKED. Not to mention they've still got Durant, Oden, and a few other notable draft picks from the last two years waiting their turns as well.

I mean think about it - Chris Paul was a LATE addition!!!

So please, to bring up that negative stuff is just that - negative for no reason.

Let Beasley learn a thing or two about the NBA (or at least step on the court) and then another couple of things about international basketball (b/c I'm sure he ALSO can't defend the pick and roll).

Sorry but you've just made a wild insinuation. Is "Sharpie" paying you Terrell Owens?

I have been following this much more closely then you, methinks. USA Basketball hasn't been faithful to that original 32 since the first summer - you seen Luke Ridenour lately? The Select Team that scrimmaged the US Senior National Team included Robin Lopez, Kevin Love, Jeff Green, Al Horford, and LaMarcus Aldridge not to mention Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Bayless, OJ Mayo and on and on. Lots of draftees in that group. Maybe they asked him and he said no...but it smells like a snub to me.

As for Sharpie, I am a big fan. As for TO, I hope he and Pacman unite the locker room.

It's good to see Nolan and Beasley are so intelligent they are now a part of the

But we're not talking about the Select team are we? So WHO should Beasely start over? His outside shooting isn't good enough to be a wing and he's still got to catch up to the likes of Horford, Aldridge, Bosh, Dwight Howard, Stoudamire, Chandler, Brand, Boozer, Odom, Marion, Jamison, Lebron. Seriously, where does the kid fit?

Maybe he'll get Collison's spot and for the record. Ridenour still HAS his spot.

Go back to my original post. I WAS talking about the Select Team that scrimmaged the Senior National Team during the week long training camp that took place in Vegas last week. I didn't understand why Beasley wasn't there when people like Kevin Love and Robin Lopez were there. Like I said, maybe they asked him and he said no. That's fine, if that's what happened. My original note was suggesting that sometimes people aren't consistent when it comes to describing "character". Around NBA draft time, people were questioning Beasley's character, mostly because he's a goof ball. I think the kid gets a bad rap, especially after the amazing season he just had. The USA Basketball program is wisely starting to get the young pups involved with the Select Team in order to keep the potential player pool stocked and healthy. I think it would be short-sighted to not have Beasley involved in that process because people question his character.

As for the rest of the 32 guys who were named in 2006, most aren't involved in the team anymore despite what the USA Basketball web site might say. In fact, I think you can be pretty sure that Agent 0, Bruce Bowen, Ridenour, JJ, Morrison, Hinrich, Collison, Brad Miller, Shane, Elton, Nick Collison, Antawn Jamison, Lamar Odom and Paul Pierce will never suit up for Team USA again (unless JJ gets traded and becomes the insane outside specialist that we all hope he will)
