Smile New Zealand Tall Blacks/Nick Horvath

Thank you DBR, for the posting today about the New Zealand Tall Blacks basketball team. Hopefully Nick Horvath will do well. GOOD LUCK!! Let's go Nick!

I also saw that one of NZ's opponents, Germany, is minus, due to injury, one of its players:
    Ademola Okulaja

I guess Germany might just beat itself!

    Cheers,

Horvath scored 5 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 16 minutes of action as New Zealand defeated Cape Verde 77-50.

I was going to Rip into DBR for that headline until I actually read the link and discovered that was the team name.

You may have already googled for this, but: All Blacks + taller guys = Tall Blacks

Oh man ... sorry, but I titled the thread with the same title that was in the DBR link. I apologize.

FWIW, the NZ male athletes have the distinct black uniform. The All Blacks have one of the most distinct uniforms in all of rugby. And their pre-game ritual "haka" is amazing.

FWIW, the women athletes are known as Ferns. Basketball players are referred to as the Tall Ferns, and the soccer women are the Football Ferns.

PLEASE NOTE: The Football Ferns will play in Beijing, and former Duke player, Rebecca Smith, will be playing for them. See this link from the N&O last week:

    See Bob Green's post.

Germany beat Cape Verde. This means that NZ advances, regardless of what happens vs. Germany. NZ still has to play Germany (Nowitzki). After that, NZ plays either Greece or Brazil.

Can Patrick Davidson claim New Zealand citizenship?
