Calipari added that Duke wanted a third game, a neutral-site game to be played in 2009 in Chicago.
"They want to get (Jon) Scheyer home (the Blue Devils' guard is from nearby Northbrook) and I want to recruit Chicago, so it's good for both of us," Calipari said.
Reached Wednesday by Rivals.com, Duke senior associate athletic director Mike Cragg acknowledged that his school would be interested in playing the Tigers.
"I would say we've had good discussions, but we're not prepared to make any announcements," Cragg said.
Very interesting...
Memphis wouldn't be my pick, but . . .
Count me as one of the "Duke should play more premiere program home/home matchups during the regular season" crowd-- I think it's good for college basketball and good for our program.
The recent Duke at Indiana in the ACC/Big 10 challenge gave me goosebumps before the clock ever started. I would love to see our guys at the Allen Fieldhouse and the Jayhawks in Cameron, ditto for UCLA, Syracuse (maybe replace our annual St. Johns at Madison Square Garden and have them visit Greensboro/Charlotte the next year), Texas, Arizona (if/when they get the program back to premier level), Notre Dame, Louisville (letting bygones be bygones), Ohio State . . .
You'll notice the glaring omission of UK and UCONN-- too much heat to those matchups. I think it would be unfair for the kids at either program to be exposed to such virulent hatred. I also omitted Florida. Sort of for the same reason, but mostly because I don't think Donovan's haircut should ever be legitimized/encouraged/allowed in Cameron.
