Tiger's wife Elin gave birth to a baby girl on Monday. Now he won't have to miss the Brittish Open to attend the birth. I guess she delivered a couple of weeks early, but I don't know that for sure.

Little Sam is doing fine, and plans on continuing the traditions of the dominant Duke women's golf team starting in 2025. Maybe. :D

Phil's wife was due to give birth any day, and he said that if she went into labor while he was playing, he'd withdraw immediately and fly home. I think his caddy actually carried a pager or cell phone while they were on the course.
Phil lost the Open by a stroke when Payne Stewart rolled in a long birdie putt on the last hole. If I'm remembering correctly, his wife ended up giving birth the next day -- so even if there had been a playoff, Phil likely would've had to withdraw and concede the title to Stewart anyway.
I've LOVED Tiger Woods since his college days (...although I was pissed that he went to Stanford rather than Duke). HE IS the MAN in golf -- exciting to watch and root for, raising the golf $$$ a hundredfold, articulate, athletic, and someone who has changed his sport forever-- how many athletes can say that! (maybe MJ & Lance & Nolan Ryan) Cudos to Tiger!!!
