I like this format. Gets all the riff-raff out of the way early and allows for a 16th team. Only problem is they'll almost certainly price the Wednesday tickets the same as all the other games, meaning a full book will go from around $375 to $500. (A book of 11 games was $363 for years, then it went up a bit in 2011 or 2012.) The flip side is the secondary market will have even more tickets available, as has happened with every other expansion.

Would NCAA rules allow for a conference playoff? Of course the schools wouldn't go for it under the current bowl system, but as the four-team playoff system takes hold, could the ACC use some of its conference games as a playoff substitute?
